New York Brooklyn NYC food photographer Michael Berman specializes in food, portrait, and documentary photography for editorial, advertising, and websites.
My favorite subjects are people and food.
I find portraits more compelling and food more scrumptious when presented in their natural settings.
I'm obsessed with pizza — the people who make it and consume it, its countless visual contexts, and (of course) eating it.
Pizza transcends class and nationality; I love the child-like enthusiasm, messiness, and passion it inspires.
I'm also crazy about clams.
My clients include the Edible Magazines, Peter Luger Steak House, Pio Pio Restaurants, Amaru Pisco Bar, Brennan and Carr Restaurant, Dartmouth College, Manhattan Country School, Center for Employment Opportunities, the AARP, the New York Daily News, and the New York Times.
I earned an MBA degree from Georgetown in 1996 and have a strong background in the restaurant industry and food services. I approach work for small business clients not just by snapping photos, but by taking a broader view toward the company's business success and how photos might play a role.
I live in Brooklyn, NY, with my wife and six-year old daughter (whose favorite pizza is the one she gets to make herself at Brunelleschi's in Aspen, CO). We have a Welsh Springer named Billie Holiday — and yes, she sings!
Besides photography, I offer website production, copywriting, and counsulting services.
